I'm thinking about taking the AP Chinese exam at some point in the next couple of years. I do have access to the Integrated Chinese textbooks, but I feel like Duolingo might be a better choice for learning the language.
I know that I would also have to practice spoken Chinese outside of Duolingo in order to improve, but since some of my family is Chinese, this would not be a problem.
That all being said, has anyone taken an AP Chinese class or the exam, and knows whether the Duolingo Chinese course would be sufficient to reach this necessary level of proficiency?
I haven't taken a Chinese AP class or exam, but I can tell you that while Duolingo makes for a great supplement, it's just that: a supplement. Use Duolingo in conjunction with other methods (like the Integrated Chinese textbooks, I've heard good things about them). This is the case for any language on Duolingo. That's not to say that it won't teach you anything, but there is a limit to how much it can teach you. Duolingo alone won't bring you much farther than relatively basic knowledge. With language learning, it's always a good idea to branch out and use more than one resource.
