How come anak is a duplicated word plural while robot is not? Confusing for me.

Same here. I knew only one of 'robot' and 'anak' needed to be reduplicated, but I picked the wrong one. Why the 'anak'? Is it definitely wrong to reduplicate 'robot', with a single 'anak'?
