Students completing skills ahead of time, and then marked as having not done it!

So let's say the course for Singakian has skills that go from A to B to C, etc. Let's say that in my Singakian class I've only assigned up to G but a student has worked all the way ahead to Q. The next week, when I assign H (the next lesson in the skill tree), it will mark the student as having not done it even though they did it weeks before.

I'm a tired teacher and this is the best way I can explain it. I'm teaching Spanish and I assign one skill a week. Students can use their cell phones or their school-issued Chromebooks to complete the skills.

As of right now, in order to accurately grade my students, for every student DL displays as having not done it, I have do go in manually to each student and look at their Activity Log (which is accurate, as far as I can tell). I'll have to look for the little "4/4" for my assigned skill and make sure they completed it before the due date, which is extremely tedious.

Somebody please advise. Also, I'm sorry if this has already been posted but I couldn't find it in the discussion forums.

EDIT: This problem only started happening a couple of weeks ago! It was fine before then. Students who worked ahead were marked as having done it pretty soon after I assigned it.

Please read the sticky at the top of the forum: https://forum.duolingo.com/comment/29546233

We recently updated skill assignments to require a level completion while the assignment is active to give teachers more control over when students are practicing specific vocabulary.

Just a suggestion, however: as a teacher I was not notified of this change. From now on I'll be sure to monitor the discussion board, but I feel like an update email should have been sent (or one was, I did not catch it!)

Ahh, thank you so much! I'm so sorry--I was unaware of the sticky.
