Streak Protection Important
I learned that the system sometimes fails to register daily progress. I believe this occurs in forgetting to complete all the steps after attaining your minimum daily goal (ie you have to close all open windows on goal completion). I had completed my previous daily goal, but I noticed that my Streak Freeze that I had activated early on in the learning process (for insurance purposes) had disappeared. For that reason, I would recommend keeping a Streak Freeze in place for insurance purposes.
;) I always do the same. But when you have a streak like yours, you're always more careful with those things xD
Far too much importance can be attached to the streak. I can understand Duolingo wanting us to log on every day because it provides more opportunity to push ads. But personally, I just study when I feel like it and take a break for a day or two when I feel like it. I'm a real rebel aint I? :-)
I agree with you to some extent. I've been using Duo since 2016, and my streak is 200 not 700.
There are times when the streak keeps one accountable; It's habit-forming.
Duome tells me you've been using Duo for two weeks. Perceptions change as one travels down the language learning path. Keep an open mind, do what works for you, but recognize that lessons get more complex and revision becomes critical to language success.
I do have an open mind. Yes, I have been using Duolingo for just a couple of weeks, but I've been studying French for longer; much longer. I know what works for me, but of course everyone has a different approach.
If you care about your streak and work in the app, always go to the web site after you think you are done and check that the web site agrees.
I agree. I'm almost at two years and i've only used the freeze twice but on those two occasions I had completely forgotten.
