This is probably on behalf of all new people such as I when we say that we need a bit of help understanding all the great things Duolingo has to offer us.
So if you have any interesting advice or questions, please feel free the to do so. I would also like veteran people to help answer these question.
Thank you very much for your participation in my discussion. With this information, I will make a sort of guide book for any people who are having problems or are new to the site. Once again, thank you (or grazie in Italian)
Welcome to Duolingo :) You are quick to engage in discussions, which is good, because it's a good place to find out what is going on. There are a couple of "veterans" around, both in Discussions and in the language sections, to help you if you have any questions. You can also take a look at the Help page as you might find a couple of answers there: http://duolingo.com/#/help
It is interesting that you want to create a guide book, because there have been some discussions lately about the need for a FAQ. Some questions are raised again and again as people have trouble finding discussions with similar topics. The creation of a guidebook might solve that problem though I would like to point out that this creation has to be a two-sided process. I'm sure that there are enough people who would like to share their knowledge, but it would help to know what questions need answering.
Another question I have is how you would distribute this guidebook to new users. Would you create a separate text file that is hosted on an external website or would you like to create a discussion page in which all questions and answers are collected? It would help to have something that can be edited as the relevance of information might change over time.
Please let us know what kind of information you are looking for. Other newcomers are of course also welcome to share their thoughts. If you could give some examples then we would be able to discuss whether there is enough need for a separate guide and what things would need to be included.
Thanks Lenkvist for all your helpful tips! There are many helpful community members here to guide you. We're working on a better help and new member experience that we think will help you out. The discussions are a great place to ask language questions, troubleshoot, get updates or ask general questions about Duolingo and language. Explore! What are everyone else's tips?
Blue profiles are staff members (although not all people who work on Duolingo show their colours; http://duolingo.com/#/info). Green profiles are a new experiment to give more room to helpful users. It is still at an early stage, but more information will be made available in the near future.
Here are a few ideas for Duolingo that will make it more interactive: -Special colours for people who have finished all of the courses -Different games or games that people choose to do -Different topics for Immersion -Apps for Apple AND android
These are just a few of the ideas that both I and others have seen and discussed.
