Why is 'dieser' not correct in this sentence? Without extra context I don't see anything wrong with it. What am I missing?


The standard translation pattern is 'dieser' ='this one', 'jener' = 'that one'. But since German isn't very picky about the use of 'dieser' and 'jener', I'd say your translation should be accepted too.
