But chicken soup, beef soup etc is okay? Huh?

Well, they aren't endangered at least... In parts of Latin America there have been succesful campaigns under the banner "Yo no como las tortugas" to get people to stop eating (endangered) turtle eggs. Yo tambien, yo no como las tortugas. Duo, I don't think lessons about eating endangered species are a good thing.

Ay! Las tortugas estan siendo aniquilados! Salvar a las tortugas! Ayudar! Ayudar!

Eso es que mi escuela hace :D Vamos a Mexico y ayudamos a las tortugas cada anyo :D

Is anyone else find it interesting that no one cries a river over sentences with chicken in them?

There's something repellent about taking the life of a creature with such longevity. They can make it to 100! (Piscine Patel be damned.)

Yeah but cows and pigs are much more intelligent and conscious

If chickens, cows, pigs etc ever make the IUCN red list it will be a day to celebrate!

It will indeed. Hopefully that day comes soon. Dato curioso / fun fact : Los cerdos son en realidad animales muy inteligente y son buenos nadadores.

Turtle or chicken or any other animal, something I'd never eat.

It is interesting that DL calls this section "Gerunds," when there apparently is no construction in Spanish that is specifically the equivalent of English gerunds. http://www.spanishdict.com/topics/show/31

Yeah I was thinking the same thing

Another important take away from this sentence actually is the reinforcement of "the personal "a." As a newbie, I am 100% sure I would have said-- ¿Viste mi hermano cocinando sopa? INCORRECTO.

What kind of person cook a turtle soup?!

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Romana...

I ask myself the same. :)

Never knew Master Shredder speaks Spanish!

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/mcpaborg

Sounds like Shredder from the Ninja Turtles

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Romana...

I thought that it should stay: "a turtle soup". Any native English speaker to help...?

Viste = "have you seen" was marked wrong but is on the drop down list!!!

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Tom968478

Although all others seems to be focused on the ingredients, I think you are right, as the "seeing of the cooking" would have had to occur in the past.

His brother is Shredder.

Now i see the use for the earlier sentence "ahora debemos eliminar los testigos".
