I've finished the Hindi tree and need to keep learning. Will there be more Hindi? If so, when?

Dear fellow Duolinguists: I strongly urge that the Duolingo Hindi course be expanded. Hindi is a major world language, and we ought to help those who are trying to learn it.

Try the English via Hindi course. I'm doing this now, and guess what, this method is much more effective in learning Hindi than the Hindi course itself.

Outside of duolingo, you can read Hindi websites, there is a Hindi version of Quora I read everyday. You can also watch Hindi videos on YouTube, watch Hindi movies, etc.

Help! I started the English via Hindi course and now everything throughout Duo is in Hindi. I don't know Hindi well enough to use it and am also doing three other languages. Can't figure out how to return the site to English. What to do?

Sorry about that :)

Just change your course to something else you are already learning, and the site language would change to English.

Thank you. That seems to work for the other languages. Will have to see whether I need to translate a lot of Hindi (and learn it!) to deal with the overall Duo site. Right now in this forum, everything is Hindi. :D

Duolingo is not the only language resource, there are plenty of other sites, books, youtube channels, that teach Hindi.

U have? it only says that u are level 8. Also, maybe u could go to lv. 25 instead of just finishing the skill tree. :)

How do you get to level 25? I have finished all of the tree to the deepest level, and that took me to level 20. Working through practice exercises (which are just re-doing the exercises) I am close to level 21, but I am quite bored with doing the same exercises over and over so couldn't stand to do it for long enough to get to level 25 if that is even possible.

you get XP for practicing too. in theory, you could get to a very high level only on the early stages if you wanted to.

Yes, I have gone from level 20 to level 21 by doing practice exercises. Now I see that to get to level 22 I need to do another 200 practice exercises (to get 2000XP). But that is not very interesting. I have now enrolled in "English from Hindi" and have already learned a few new words.

You can unlock the timed challenges too. Those add an extra level of complexity and you get more xp from them. (20 instead of 10, assuming you get every answer correct)

But yeah more variety is always good.

Thanks for that! I wasn't aware of the timed practices, but I just found them in the बाज़ार. I'll give that a go too.

If you want a textbook, I like Elementary Hindi by Delacy and Joshi. :)

You clearly haven't reached the max level. Your tree may have been finished but you have probably have not reached lv5 in all exercises. If you have the pro version, you can easily gain a lot of xp and practice at the same time. If not, jut keep going back to lessons. Good job anyways!

Thanks. I discovered that and have returned to the beginning to drill down in each exercise to the maximum level. The practice is wonderful!!
