News in French:
World news in French is the most up to date world new from France 24. I enjoy watching this news program once a day instead of the news from the USA because they do a better job of covering the world without commercials. The link doesn't change. Every time you click it, you see the most up-to-date information, which France24 updates every 20 minutes.
To learn from the news the most, I usually click on parameters (looks like a wheel) and then vitesse (speed) to slow down the playback speed. The newscasters speak very quickly.
Watch French live TV.
Thanks so much for sharing this! I've been watching the French news (in French) and the station I've been watching only presents one side, or when they do present the other it is a feeble attempt. France24 looks pretty good so far!
I don't understand very well what happens in the center of Paris. This Saturday 8/12/2018 the "galleries Lafayette" museums and the "Tour Eifel" will be closes ? What ask the "gilets jaunes=yellow vest"?
I'm french and I can tell you that France is completely lost with the "gilets jaunes" XD XD XD
Be careful about editorializing. The moderators, and certain users, are quick to tell people to keep politics out of this board. I've had it happen to me more than once.
@01LearnFrench01, This story has been in the headlines on Le Monde continuously for at least three weeks. It's an interesting one. It started with blue-collar workers intent on avoiding a fuel tax hike, but environmentalists, students, and other groups have piled on. It is getting daily press in US outlets as well.
It's getting pretty interesting. My French penpal told me a couple of weeks ago that they had to change their plans because the road they meant to take to the coast (somewhere just windward of Perpignan) was totally blocked and they couldn't get to their condo by car.
Donald Trump twitted his two-cents worth yesterday and has been asked by the French foreign minister to stay out of internal affairs. (we stay our of your domestic business; please stay out of ours is basically what he said, according to LeMonde)
Apparently Macron is going to make a big address tomorrow at 8pm (paris time). France24 is not bad. Lots of talking heads, pretty much like US news outlets. If you can stomach that it's a decent news organization. I've been watching it off and on for about a year. I assume they'll televise it live. If I can remember it and I'm not busy I'll try to watch it. (2pm in the Eastern Time Zone, I think) CSPAN will probably as well, but they'll have a translator. If you're into trying to understand the original speech, better to watch it on a French channel.
Thank you for taking the time to provide an in depth explanation.
