Stories in Italian

I enjoy learning Portuguese with stories, but have realized that they are not available in Italian. Is there a timeline to have them in Italian?

I am hopeful that one day Duolingo will add in Italian stories. Until then however, check out these two websites.

Thanks, those are my babies :)

I've got new Italian stories coming reasonably soon. There's a Facebook page, mailing list, and newborn Twitter feed you can follow if you want to stay notified.

Thank you Reichsritter14 <3 I am with you.

And not just for Italian, but many other languages as well.

Thank you also for sharing this resource !

Thanks alot for sharing these. I'd like to also recommend an app called "Beelinguapp". It provides bilingual books with audio for download to read offline and you can also read bilingual news. And you don't have to use English as the reference language.

I know! Wish they had them in every language!

Note that I, as a volunteer, none that I am are aware of.

I agree with you, it would be fantastic to have stories in other languages.

If there are people with the skills in both these languages, of Italian and English, I would like to encourage them to start creating some resources, inspired perhaps by the stories Duo has available. see https://stories.duolingo.com/

And using skills such as mentioned here: https://forum.duolingo.com/comment/28284738$comment_id=29932734

I do believe though that the trials of this story concept are going well. And that if it is that I know Duo, they are also sooooo wanting to role them out to many other languages, and I would believe ALL other languages.

They also long to be able to include endangered languages and also language variations, such as spoken by different communities. I do know that this is also on their very long term wish list.
I don't have easy at hands the links to the public comments made in this regard. However there is quite a cluster of them.

Is there a way to help with that? (I'm probably asking how to become a volunteer for Duo...)

All the stories are from the public domain. You can listen to the stories read to you while you follow along in the text. It is also possible to change the speed of playback using the free audacity player.

For adult-oriented stories (not children's books) there is a new app coming out: https://readstori.com

Here's a collection of short stories to practice listening and reading. They all come with audio recorded by a native speaker, transcript, translation, and a comprehension test. It's all free!

What kind of stories would you like to read? :)

You find plenty of free short stories and news with slow audio to practice listening and reading in Italian on "Fluent. Simple." ;)
