"This evening is cold." is much more correct.

This just sounds wrong in English.

It's valid English. It just sounds like an old poem. Maybe tomorrow evening here in Northern California, while checking the surf at dusk, I'll say, "Friends, this dusk is cold! But let's surf anyway!"

"Valid" !? it is poor English, period.

senja is the more usual BI for dusk

Petang itu malam menjelang sore. Kurang cocok rasanya pakai dusk

"this dusk" is not a thing in any dialect of English I have come across. In my opinion, a natural English translation of this sentence would be "it's cold this evening". "dusk" and "dawn" do not behave like 'evening', 'night', 'day', etc.

I've never heard this word once in Indonesia.

Google translate, admittedly not the most reliable source, translates itk as "It's cold tonight ". This seems better to me.
