I wish Duolingo had a dark theme mode. I usually study at night, and it often becomes hard to focus due to the screen being so bright. Just a suggestion.
I recommend downloading "Stylish". A lot of websites have an alternative dark version which you can install using the plugin - I have it set up for all the websites I visit regularly which don't have a dark theme. I also use another plugin "Deluminate" which does a rough job at setting new websites or websites without a theme on Stylish to dark. This is on Chrome though, I heard there was a better plugin for Firefox than Deluminate called 'grey background white text' or something? I don't recommend the "Dark Reader" plugin, it makes everything pitch black and bright white so there is too much contrast and it's worse than light theme most of the time.
But yes, I totally agree - I have no idea why every website doesn't have a dark theme as an option.
I am. Now I am late for my morning walk in Saigon. It is 7:15 a.m. here and plenty bright.
you are awake at 7.15 and ready to make sport (to move anyhow), you are spooky to me :-0
I feel spooky or like a "con ma" (ghost) when people stare at me when I walk down a busy alley for the first time. The second time, I see a couple of knowing smiles. About the third time, I get to have short conversations.
If you're on a Chromebook (like I am), press Control + Search + H. High contrast Mode makes the screen darker, but in a way you can still see.
Thank you for this good and supportive and respectful reply DragonFyre
If you are on your phone, you can download an app called Twilight that will convert the white light on your phone to a more blue-tone to prevent eyestrain, especially at night. It has other modes, too, such as greyscale iirc.
If you are on your computer, you can use f.lux to do the same.
I have been using this Dark Theme Firefox extension for a few weeks now & it's very good, but hopefully Duo will release an official one. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/duolingo-true-dark-theme/
