IS THIS POSSIBLE?
Have nearly completed German tree. Is it possible to go back to an earlier (and I deemed harder) course, which I was given initially on joining Duolingo? Crown course is my third course given.
Unless they're running an A/B test, once they've moved you to a new tree it's permanent. (I have heard that in some cases you might be brought back to an earlier tree if you create a classroom.)
I don't think that the current English->German course is still in the A/B testing phase.

This obviously only works for the French tree2 as it is still stable and all others, including tree3 are A/B.
We neither can go back to tree3 :(
you can start any course from German, like German->Spanish, German->French, German->English and because of the requirement to be pushed into writing from L1 German into the L2 target language on lower crown L0-L2 (L3) levels, those courses will be more difficult.
You can also try www.lingvist.com and the English->German course as you will be tested on RECALLING and typing the German word correctly.
The German full sentence will also be read to you (auto audio play in the L2 target language).
Clozemaster has a similar concept.
Whoo! All that! Thanks Thomas, I never really looked further afield. I am suffering "attachment anxiety" - unwilling to let go of a Duolingo course! I will drag the German tree out as long as possible, but all good things must come to an end, to make way for new and greater things. Thanks for your great response! Hope you had a nice, warm Christmas! :))
Oh, I forgot to mention, I did try German to English, but when typing in German, the spell checker was changing practically every word. It was so frustrating and slow. I gave up in the end. Can only download a few things, as my internet connection is weak and new downloads won't open. So didn't download German keyboard. Danke!
P.S. Will try French to German and see if the problem's the same. :)
