  • For my interest.
  • I'm inspired by the Disney movie Lilo and Stitch, which contains some Hawaiian language.
  • My country is USA.
  • To be connected with Hawaiians in case I meet one of them someday.

It's such a pretty language! I don't want to see it die so I figured even if one person learns it, it'll make a difference

It's just an interesting language!

I enjoy learning Latin-based languages predominantly, but non-Latin based ones always throw me through a loop so it's very interesting!

I have raced outrigger canoes for over a decade (Wa'a/Va'a/Waka ama as they are known). Over the course of the years, I've fallen in love with the Hawaiian culture as well as other Polynesian cultures. So for this Haole, learning the language is one way I can pay may respects to a culture I hold so dear.

I'm a haumana of hula, so it's nice to learn what the words of our oli and mele mean. :)

I'm NZ Māori and fluent in my language, the Hawaiian language is very similar so it's easy to learn. I've always wanted to learn the language aswell.

Oh, maybe you could apply for the Maori course?

My husband's family is Hawaiian. His grandmother and great-aunt grew up speaking Hawaiian so for me, even learning this small amount makes me feel more connected to them.

I love Hawaiian BBQ and I have Filipino friends that live on the Islands.

To be honest I have two reasons. One is that it is a interesting language different from the ones I know. Also, one of my favorite movies is Lilo and Stitch.

The language seems fascinating. I'm interested in the complex phonology and figuring out what makes this language uniquely Polynesian. Please correct me if I'm wrong :)
