Basic ASL ~ Basics 1 (2)
Now that you know the alphabet, let’s start with a simple greeting and introduction.
To say ‘hello’ in ASL, you put your hand up in a ‘closed finger 5’ position.
You can smile or leave your face straight. You can also make a B hand shape and salute the other person.
To say ‘my' or 'mine’ in ASL, you rest a flat, closed finger hand on your chest.
For the word ‘is’, you don’t sign a word, or fingerspell it. ASL, I believe, doesn’t use is or similar helping verbs. (PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I’M WRONG)
To say ‘name’ in ASL, hold your fingers on both hands in the letter ‘u’ in ASL, and tap twice. Move only one hand.
Finally, fingerspell your name. For me, I would use two ‘J’s. I’ll leave an image down below of the ASL alphabet. When you fingerspell, you sign the letters in order. For example, if my name was Harry, I would sign an H in ASL, then an A in ASL, and so on, until you reach the end of your name. This applies to other proper nouns, and company names, such as Amazon or Ebay.
Practice until your movements are smooth.
Thank you everyone!

The sign for "hi", "hello" is often made with a "B" hand shape is done in a salute; after all, it is a salutation.
Your sign for "my", "mine" is incorrect. It is done with an open hand.
There are many ways to say different things - but I'll add those into the post.
Thank you so much for this course, I guess I can call it. I will definitely be using it!! :D
As far as I know ASL from Bill Vicar's videos, you're 100% correct.
off to look at post #1
Whoop! Thank you so much. I'd really love to learn ASL. I only know a little. :D You've got a regular customer!
Is anyone else hoping that one day Duo will offer ASL. Maybe using a camera or a multiple choice exercise.
