Tree Change Discouragement
I’ll preface this post by saying that I have always loved Duolingo and what it has done for my life. However, I feel that I need to get something off of my chest. The tree change before this most recent one really discouraged me because it reset almost every skill to level 1, but I was determined to go through and level them all back up. I spent what felt like forever trying to get the skills back up at least two levels each, and I felt really accomplished. But now, after this most recent update, I truly have lost patience. All of the skills I worked so hard on were sent back down to the basics, and I know that Duolingo is doing its best to make the learning experience better and more reliable, so I don’t really fault them. By this point, however, my new game lab is to just finish the last 10 skills and be done with my Duolingo French tree. I can’t try to make everything higher levels or gold knowing it will be lost, and my last hope is to just get the finished tree accomplishment.
Even though I have come to the end of my French journey with Duolingo, I will probably occasionally use it to brush up on individual skills I’ve forgotten, and I just want to say again that I’m truly proud of the Duolingo staff and what they are bringing to this world. Thank you for everything.
Have you tried the test out feature. It is actually quite fun and you will have your tree nicely colored again in no time.
Yes, but it still takes a while to get an entire tree back up, and I know that the progress will be lost by the next update, but thank you for the advice.
That has happened to me a few times, but each time Duolingo added more content and I thought that was great. Changes to the tree never discouraged me; I was thrilled that the lessons became deeper and more numerous.
