What is the difference in pronunciation of yaj and jay?

In Klingon the j is pronounced like the English "j" in the word "jump". You can also hear it at both the beginning and end of the word "judge". The Klingon word laj ("to accept" or "acceptance") sounds almost exactly like the English word "lodge". The Klingon word jay (which is only used to refer to the letter j) sound just like the first syllable ("gi-) of the word "giant".

Great, thanks! I got the difference after some careful listening, and this explanation helps a lot.

Duolingo generally assumes that a single letter mistake is a typing error and gives you the benefit of the doubt. It's a problem for Klingon, since many words are just three letters and a single letter substitution can make a huge difference.
