Learning another language
I was curious if there was anybody who knew a place that i might be able to go where i can learn some of the common Kenyan words. I would like to go there soon and would like to be able to converse with them. Thanks!!!
African isn’t a language. There are thousands of languages in Africa.
Which country/language are you thinking of?
The most common languages in Africa are French (Western Africa), Arabic (Northern), and Swahili (Eastern). Since this is the French forum and you're asking for African words, are you asking for African French? If so, maybe Live Lingua will help. They have Peace Corp, Defense Language Institute, and FSI courses that are tailored to the dialects of the countries. For example, the Peace Corp page has courses for French (General), French (Cameroon), French (Mali), or French (Tunisia). These dialects are often blends of French and the native languages of the region, and sometimes even Arabic loanwords.
If you want to learn African French, all I can recommend is that you choose one country and study their dialect.
You do realize that's like asking where you could learn "some of the common European words" or "some of the common Asian words", right? As in, pretty nonsensical? It's an entire continent with a ton of languages.
Duo has a Swahili course, which is one of the more commonly-spoken languages, but it's far from universal.
