How much XP should I be doing daily on the Welsh Duolingo course?

Right now I've been consistent on doing the 50 XP daily that's necessary to keep my streak going. On the one hand, I definitely don't want to go too fast and finish the course without retaining the information. On the other hand, I'm worried that doing 50 XP a day is too little progress to ever get better at Welsh. Should I be doing 75 XP? 100 XP? How much is 'just right'?

Hi, I'm working at the same rate a little bit behind you. It really depends on how you learn best and how much time you have to devote to it.

All the advice below is what I intend to do when I get a bit further into the course (somewhere around levels 12-15, I hope) - launching at this now, when we are still grappling with the present tense will be too much.

You need to use a language to get fluent. You need to use sources other than Duolingo, listen to Welsh radio stations, read Welsh language websites (or newspapers or magazines if you can get hold of them). Look for children's books in Welsh (pretty sure there's a Welsh edition of Harry Potter). Find a Welsh message board to chat on.

Work offline in addition to your 50 XP per day. Make vocabulary lists, compile verb tables so you can see how the language fits together. Try to write something in Welsh - just one sentence a day - using the vocabulary we have in an original way.

Good luck whatever you decide to do.
