Easy Croatian lessons 3 - Getting know
Bok!:) Today I want us to GET KNOW of each other,ok?:)
Hi, I'm Marina. – Bok, ja sam Marina. (bohk, yah sahm Marina.)
And you? – A vi? formal (ah vee), A ti? informal (ah tee)
What's your name? – Kako se zovete? - formal (kah-koh seh ZOH-veh-teh), Kako se zoveš? - informal (kah-koh seh ZOH-vesh)
I am... – Ja sam... (yah sahm)
My name is...:
Moje ime je... (moh-yeh EE-meh yeh)
Or, more common, the way we usually say – Zovem se... (zoh-vehm seh) – and it literally means „I call myself“:)
Nice to meet you:
Drago mi je što smo se upoznali. (drah-goh mee yeh shtoh smoh seh OO-pohz-nah-lee) (literally – „I'm glad of getting know of you“)
But, we use the shorter version more often: Drago mi je. (translated as „I'm glad“ or „My pleasure“) - sorry for complicating your life a bit with this kind of explanation:):P
If you have any questions, pls let me know so I can add/correct/explain something better.:) I plan to make and put more new lessons (links) in one post so you can have more stuff in that post, and it will take me some time, but in the meantime,I'll put more short lessons like this with the links of previous lessons..sorry,I'm really new in all this.:P Any tips on how should I make lessons? And should I make a yt video?I'm not a teacher or a translator, but I'm excited head over heels about all this, trust me.:) I'll do my best to help you out.:)
Now, go and practice!!
Hi Marina, hvala for the lesson :D
I have a suggestion: Can you stop adding the pronunciation guides? Since you've made a lesson for the alphabet (Lesson 1) and you put a link to it on the other lessons, I don't think it's neccessary to put pronunciation guides on later lessons. Besides, that means we can practice reading too! Just a thought.
Hi Marina, off topic question here. You mentioned in you're first post you have a newborn, what language are you planning to teach you're baby? English, Croatian or both.
bok:) haha that's a cute question:) I'll teach my kids Croatian and Serbian(I'm from bilingual family),and then Hebrew and English...and then, who knows...sky is the limit:)
