What now...?

Hi there!

I've just finished my German tree, and now I'm wondering what I should do next. Should I level up each skill until the entire tree is gold? To me that seems a bit repetitive, but maybe some of you have found that useful. Are there other apps I should start using or anything else you've done post-completion of your German tree that progressed your skills?

Danke schön (:

Ich gratuliere!

You could certainly go back to polish up this tree. You could also select to study another language through German.

I would recommend finding other methods through which to engage the language: Read a book in German, for instance. Better yet, finish that book and read some more. Find a German newspaper online. Watch a German show. Listen to podcasts. Search out opportunities to write. Find someone with whom to communicate in the language.

The best way to learn a language is to use that language, so get out there and use your newfound skills.

Ich wünsche dir viel Erfolg auf deiner Sprachreise.

Exactly :)

About repetitions in DL: Just do them if you feel you have a need for it. If you aren't sure: Just pick a skill and start upgrading it.

And follow the suggestions MuchMyriad made.

I always make sure my tree is gold and all my crowns are done. Now I am working on getting my skills to 100% strong.

(https://www.duome.eu/Jringsss/progress is a good place to see what isn't full.

Repitition helps to embed these things in your mind. Also, new material is freed up with each crown level. Harder phrases / sentences.

I do admit that I skipped through all the crowns (little key button), but that's cause I use German every day, all day. So that was too easy and repetitive for me.

I would make each skill golden. It does not feel like repetition to me because they make it harder for you by asking you the English and you have to say the German. That is harder for me, and I believe it is harder for almost everyone else. Also, you could try to appear in the Duolingo hall of fame. The Duolingo hall of fame has multiple things: Who has the most lingots, who completed the most languages and has the most golden trees, who has the longest streak... etc.. I do not know how to get to the hall of fame, but many people do, so you could just ask. But mastering all of tree is useful because with more practice, and harder things, you should learn German better. I have completed my Navajo tree, and I used to have it golden, but I reset my progress. Now, again, I am conquering the Navajo skill tree. I also have completed the Spanish tree. I am working on making all of my skills golden. One more thing I would suggest you to do is do the reverse. Learn English from German. It is very useful, and if you ever go to Germany, you could communicate!

Hope that helps.
