Refund ? (aka I panicked about losing my money but Duolingo refunded me within a few hours)

I am a student, which means everything is tough. Duolingo charged me the 6 month payment after I forgot to cancel the free trial,no message prior to warn me about this. I immediately contacted plus support because the refund steps they have won't work for me as I used the web version. I also contacted my card company. Anybody else been in a similar situation and/or have any advice ? I'm quite desperate

Update:That literally was all of my money and I'm on the verge of a mental collapse. UPDATE: I DID GET THE REFUND.THANKS EVERYONE.

That stinks. When I want to use something for a free trial, I usually put a reminder in my calendar near the date when I'll be charged so that I don't forget to cancel. Generally there is no message to warn you that you are about to be charged, because they told you they would charge you if you don't cancel when you signed up for the free trial.

That's a great tip, actually. But for instance,Netflix issues warnings, which is really nice of them. They are basically avoiding the predatory charging of people who only wanted the free trial.

Duolingo has a sort of return policy that states that if I act within 48 hours I can get a refund,so I'm hoping to get that.

PROBLEM SOLVED.I got my refund, basically the process wasn't complicated at all as suggested in some other sources. Duolingos support was surprisingly nice and responsive.

Don’t buy on the internet unless you can afford it. If you really want to try it, make a note of the end of trial date and cancel before then.

Nice streak. But I disagree, there's a free trial which is not a purchase as shouldn't be treated as a purchase,it's a FREE trial. There's also the refund option that most companies offer, which is a completely normal thing and shouldn't be a problem especially with someone as big as Duolingo. I assume it might be early to start panicking.

It is a FREE trial, because you are not charged for the trial period even if you forget to cancel it, your subscription starts from the end of the trial period.

I agree it is sematics but it is still legally a free trial. However, there was a lot of talk among several governents (a litle while ago) of outlawing these tactics, especially automatic subscription renewals but I don’t think anything was implemented.
