1000th day streak on Duolingo.
I really wanna thank the staff of Duolingo for making this happen, I've been successfully and faithfully practicing everyday both on the desktop and mobile version and I just can't stop doing it.
And as a teacher I always recommend it to my students and I encourage them to keep learning new languages through Duolingo because it's not only a really good app but the best.
~Thank you! ~ ¡Gracias! ~ Merci ! ~ Спасибо! ~ Danke! ~ Grazie! ~ Dankon~

Congratulations! 1000 days is really impressive. Do you feel you can communicate in the languages you've been practicing (and started here on Duo)?
I like hanging out near where I live so I frequently get to know foreigners; sometimes I take my violin out and start busking, so people come up to me and start conversations.
What's my secret? Trying to speak out loud and putting in practice what I've just learned on either Duolingo or any other place or website and being totally opened to make mistakes; mistakes are a really infalible way to improve yourself or whatever you guys wanna improve.
Congratulations to an impressive milestone - may it continue to grow as long as you choose. Best wishes. :)
oh boy I wish I even make it to your Streak, I've just recently started Duo again, seeing you people motivates me so much
Wauw! Das ist aber mehr als amazing! Sehr gut gemacht! Buen suerte in the zukunft. ;)
Dankeschön! Du hast es auch sehr gut gemacht!
Herzlichen Glückwunsch zu deiner 1545-Tage-Serie. Das ist wirklich beeindruckend!
Welcome to the 1000 family. It takes a lot of discipline but it surely feels good.Congratulations to you.
Oh, thanks for your words!
Yeah, it does take a lot of discipline and dedication, it is worth it though
Awesome ~ 素晴らしい ~ Erstaunlich ~ Merveilleux ~ Удивительный
I understood the "Thanks" in all the languages you used, except for the last two! What are these languages?
First, congratulations for an incredible feat. Second, I thought the guidance you imparted under your "What is my secret" comment was very insightful. I will now try applying what I learn in duolingo to something every day. Today it was, " Yo estoy cepillando las dientes" Question: is it "Yo estoy" or "Me estoy" and how do I know which to use?
I am not 100 percent, but 99,9 percent sure it's never "me estoy".
And I think the Spanish "me" in context of things like: I wash my hands: "Me lavo las manos", and the same with: I wash my hands, I shower, I dress, etc. are something about "reflexive" verbs, and one of the keyword here is the word "reflexive".
I struggle with the grammar, as I learn Spanish from English, and I'm Danish and haven't learned all the correct grammatical terms in English or Spanish yet ...
Buen suerte :)
It's reflexive when the doer is also the receiver of the action, like when YOU are washing YOUR hands, then you need a reflexive pronoun; me, te, se ... (Tu) te peinas, (Yo) me peino But not if the receiver is someone else: Yo lavo los platos
Hey! Thanks for your comment!
Here in Colombia we could say either ''Me estoy cepillando los dientes,'' ''Me cepillo los dientes,'' ''Me estoy lavando los dientes'' or ''Me lavo los dientes.''
You would either say 'Me estoy cepillando los dientes' or 'Estoy cepillandome los dientes' or 'Me cepillo los dientes', the latter sounds more natural to me (pero soy sueco).
'Me estoy' when the action is reflexive
You have studied 14 days in a row. The person above is celebrating 1000 days in a row with no days off.
Congrats! I don't think I'll make a streak of that size, but I sure admire yours!
Wauw! You are amazing!
Encouraging your student to learn a new language will also learn them to look at other cultures and open their mind and hart to people and things that might be unfamiliar or strange to them.
And learning new languages often open the a door to know more about other cultures, and hopefuly embrace all the good stuff and to learn, we are not all that different no matter what colors we are given from our parents :D
We need more openminded children especially in a time like this with increasing "patriotism" (or pure "racism") that often follow a low knowledge of things outside their own ignorant life, and a low knowledge of their own history.
Thank you for being a teacher and bring hope for the future. All my best wishes and good luck, Pia
PS: My streak is "only" 332 days today, and I too have become "addicted" to Duo (and youtube, etc) to improve my new language, Spanish, as well as improve my English.
It's a win win all the way. I stick to Spanish now, as I need to learn this language before moving from the cold Denmark to the warm Spain this or next year.
But I so wish I was 30 years younger as I then would learn at least Russian and Persian too, also to be able to read some of their authors at the original language.
Learning about cultures outside your comfort zone, with an open mind and heart, makes you understand where you come from and where you wanna go (and not go) in a way ignorant people will never know. <3
That's a very encouraging response.
Thanks for those words. And yes, It's really important for me to encourage my students 'cuz when I was at school I didn't have enough material and opportunities to study languages with, but now it's different; it's the Green Owl era; and us teachers, we gotta make such process of learning languages something fun, motivating and entertaining.
I understand where you're coming from but name calling seems SO juvenile.
Congratulations. I just started with duolingo last week. I hope I can stay consistent. This is a nice motivation.
Congrats, long streaks definitely take some dedication to make it a part of your day every day.
I've been reading the comments and seeing the languages you guys study and your shining streaks, you guys are all amazing, it feels super cool to be on Duolingo among you people.
Just keep it up and you're gonna surely get it. ¡Éxitos, amigo!
Congratulations on making it to the 1000 streak mark! What languages do you like best and recommend? Also, what motivates you to practice everyday? And one question, if you buy a streak freeze and don't activate it, will it activate on its own if you miss a day?
OH YEAH MY STREAK IS uhhhhhh smaller? ̿̿ ̿̿ ̿̿ ̿'̿'\̵͇̿̿\з= ( ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀) =ε/̵͇̿̿/’̿’̿ ̿ ̿̿ ̿̿ ̿̿
Well, Spanish is my mother tongue and I started learning both English and French when I was a kid.
But I certainly get what you mean, sometimes it might be a little bit struggling because of the similarities of roots, false friends and all that stuff, but you know, learning a language requires a lot of dedication, motivation* and one of the most important things: ''patience'' but you know what they say, when you love what you do, everything comes along.
Just keep it up! ;)
Hey, how do you keep the schedule? I would like to have some tips as a beginner to get that far. Congrats again!
I practice everyday on both the desktop and mobile version, the minimum amount of XP I do per day is 300XP, most of the time 400XP-800XP and very few times 50-200XP.
You know why? Leaning a language requires a lot practice, patience and dedication, when you have set a goal and you have enough motivation everything comes along.
Be totally opened to make mistakes and enjoy making them, that's an important part of the process. Just keep it up and you're gonna hit it.
Wow that's amazing! Keep up the good work! (unless it isn't fun anymore but you seems like your having fun so good job)
Duolingo may be the best, but one source is never enough for language learning.
I am on my 618 day streak but am in jeopardy of losing it because I am unable to access the multiple choice question or the word bank. Because of this I can not complete a segment so for the last two days Ive had to by a free day with my ligot points. The new formate has a problem which never Ive never had before. I hope someone can fix this. I have written to the help line but no response as yet. I have tried to do the lessons and still the same problem. I can answer the questions but not the multiple choice question which has no place to choose...so I have to quit the segment before I get credit for completing it -thus making me in jepordy of losing my streak-- that makes me sad! Hope they fix it soon!
Wow that is awesome i hope i could be so faithful to duo now that school has resumed, and in Nigeria there isn't much time to settle down not even on the bus.
Congratulations on your streak, though due to the recent changes Duo is no longer the best app for me.
For you, I recommend Duolingo Stories, you can get XP efficiently and do it in a minute. The max XP for these stories varies, so find the story that gives you the most XP.
