Accents and other consonant and vowel extensions?

Wow, is there a resource (I guess I could just google it) on Duo to explain when to use the accent over the y, or the little half circle over the e? I guess I can hear the accented syllable with the y, but I can't tell the difference on the e at all (I can't even type these characters with my current keyboard.)

I'm just kind of learning them by rote, but I'm sure there are rules somewhere?

THANKS! Diky!

ě is palatalization (softer pronunciation of d, t, n as ď, ť, ň) after b f v f it's pronounced "bje, pje, vje, fje" accordingly. After m it's pronounced like "mně" (mňe).

ý is slightly longer than normal y.

maybe you should try the "tips and notes" for the first skill. when starting a lesson, tap on the light bulb. you need to be on the web version (including via a mobile browser) to have access to the tips.

yes, the desktop version is quite different than the mobile version in this way. This is excellent, thanks again.
