This looks like a great resource that offers interactive learning for both Peninsular and Latin American Spanish. Thank you for bringing this educational site to our attention. A month subscription is about the cost of three barista coffees, so I'll be signing up for this probably today.

Here's the link: https://www.newsinslowspanish.com /spanish-podcast

As an aside ... I'll also be finishing my Duolingo level 5 tree tonight after about 5 months of work. This site has really provided a very effective method to build a solid foundation with Spanish to develop better proficiency so I can take advantage of the slow news tools you've suggested.

First Spanish Reader by Angel Flores is a great beginner book. It has parallel text, with Spanish on the left and corresponding English translations on the right.

From the Preface:

"First Spanish Reader is precisely a first book for any beginner who has had a few intensive lessons in the Spanish language. The selections are so arranged that only the present-indicative tense is used in the first fifteen or so; the imperfect-indicative and the preterite are then introduced, and the future and conditional make their appearance only at the end of the book. The subjunctive and complicated tenses have been avoided, or at least postponed for forthcoming intermediate and advanced anthologies. The faithful yet extremely readable English translations will prove helpful in solving problems of syntax and rhetoric."

I'm working through this book now, and find it very helpful and enjoyable.

Maybe a lesson like this could work for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-XreEqWVRY& I use it for practice my English, but I feel like it could work for those who are learning Spanish too. Give it a shot if you want. Good luck.
