Inheriting students

I am hoping to use Duolingo with my classes at school, but I am wondering if there is a way for students to switch "teachers" but not start fresh with their progress. I also have some students who started doing Duolingo on their own outside of class, so I don't want them to be starting with another new account just because they are now in my class. Therefore I want to invite students and I want to "inherit" them wherever they are in learning. Does that happen automatically or how would I go about doing that?

You can't transfer a class from one teacher from another, but any Duolingo user can join a classroom. Look in the settings for your classroom, and you'll find the classroom code. Your students can then look in their settings, go to the "progress sharing" section, and enter that code. They'll then be members of your classroom without losing any of their Duolingo data.
