I agree, a Kanzu is a specific islamic costume and not just a robe. It's other African terms are jellaba (in the Meghrab) Jelebiya (Ethiopia/Eritrea) and Jilbiyah (Sudan, Egypt and Libya). It is the Thawb of Saudi Arabia.
