What is the Spanish accent taught in Duolingo when learning it from English?

Hi. I use the English - Spanish. It's actually quite clear and concise. I had a lot of co-workers from Spain in my last job. When I started with the Spanish course, I asked one of them for insight. He informed me that the pronunciation was different, indicating that it was definitely more Latin American than European Spanish.

I'm not sure about the accent, but the dialect is Latin American, not European.

The "accent" for the course from English?
Quite Robotic text to speech (=TTS) :-)

Try www.lingvist.com and see how you like the Spanish audio pronunciation there.
It definitely was a big improvement over Duolingo or Google Spanish TTS end of the 2017 year (last time I tried it with my Spanish challenge).

I heard from a German forum member, that the German->Spanish course uses native audio recordings (I do not use it on my own so, never tried it and I cannot say anything about it).
