Any Good Recommendations for TV Shows In Spanish?

Something that an intermediate speaker can follow along and also be interested.

I enjoyed watching Grand Hotel. I am also almost through with "La catedral del mar". And I just started watching "Siempre bruja". I still find it hard to understand spoken Spanish, though. I normally try to watch without subtitles, but if that gets to challenging, I switch the Spanish subtitles on for a while, until I am certain that I have caught up with the story again.

All three shows are on Netflix, btw.

yes! i recommend and LOVE gran hotel, it's set in Spain which means you have to follow along with European Spanish, not quite similar to Duolingo's Latin American Spanish. it's full of drama at every turn and most of the characters are well played and likeable!

Have you tried something like netflix and changing the audio to Spanish. Not available on all shows but seems to be a lot.

Might find your favourite show it dubbed

I am currently watching La niña on Netflix. It's set in Columbia and it's about a child soldier trying reintegrate into society. It's really good and I can follow it with Spanish subtitles on (I am intermediate also). You can also watch it with English subtitles if you wish.

Sorry, I lived in Washington, DC for 16 years and my muscle memory wants to type "Columbia", LOL.

If you have the Starz (streaming) channel, you'll find a number of TV series and movies in Spanish available to watch. It depends on your interests, of course, as to what you want to watch.

There is whole bunch of "Telenovelas" from latin countries, and it totally depends on what stuff are you into. Narcos is a great and well produced series that you may enjoy. As for Colombian classics you may want to have a look into "Aroma a Café" or "Pasión de Gavilanes". There are others, maybe more modern shows, such as "Elité", "Las chicas del Cable" and my recent favourite "La casa de Papel". These last three are all on Netflix

One of my favourites was El Ministerio Del Tiempo which is on Netflix. It also has a lot of Spanish history in it.

Personally I'm not ashamed to watch with English subtitles - which fills in the gaps. It would be difficult without subtitles depending on your level.

Thanx for those recommendations ChrisPengy34! I have some spanish speaking shows lined up on Netflix. I was wondering about the show you've mentioned and now will add it to the list to watch.
