la madrugada

It's very boring to have to repeat three perfectly identical series of exercises in order to learn that madrugada means dawn in English (or vice versa)!!!! I am referring to level four of a series about time. And also you can learn the names of the days of the week and the name of the seasons... after fifteen series of execises!!! Please Duolingo change the exercises that don't teach much and are BORING!

Duolingo uses repetition as a way of memorising the new content of the language. If you want it to be more effective you don't need to complete the five crowns of a single lesson straight away. You can reach crown level 1 and come back after some time because it is possible that you forgot some of the words. Nevertheless, note that you also have the test out feature and if you feel confident enough with a lesson you can skip the whole crown level by taking a "test". So if you already know about the days of the week and time references feel free to take the test and jump to the next level! :)

Duo uses repetition, but the madrugada thing is totally different. There are a couple of exercises in which every single question is about that one word. There is nothing else like it in the whole tree. I actually thought it was pretty funny. If you think Duo's general approach to repetition or skipping levels has anything to do with it, then you really should check it out.

Well, it seems that there is a special emphasis on this word, I don't know why :) :)
To be honest, I have never taken the Spanish course because I am a Spanish native speaker but it's good to know. The person who designed this lesson must be the president of the "madrugada fan club".

I agree with you!!!! It happens many times that It's quite normal that Duolingo repeat sentences until you are starving, and I partuially agree with this method, but the word madrugada, that was new for me, Italian, draw my attention and i will keep it in my mind together with the English Translation. In Italian we say "alba".

The madrugada lesson is by far the worst one! The worst part is that it comes up again at a higher crown level assuming you don't test out. Just commiserating, hope your day is going better after the madrugada lesson!
