No.... no difference!! In Brazil it is the same. Alimento is a bit more formal.

Why is it here not. Ela come DE comida? I am a little bit confused when to use the 'de' in front of a word and when not.

some verbs need "de" after them, like "gostar" and "precisar", and "comer" doesn't
