New but not discouraged
I've been using Duolingo for about two weeks now. And I have to say it is a lot of fun. I've always wanted to learn German, and one of my friends gave me directions here. Best decision ever. I've been trying to keep up on daily lessons, but it's difficult. Though I'm not about to put it away. And for anyone else new reading this, I know the road to learning your target language seems difficult. But give it time, and keep up the effort. Because you won't learn without trying.
Good luck out there guys.

Keep it up! The greatest satisfaction is when you are able to read your first material outside Duolingo, no matter how small it is.

The old German Cultural Graded Readers were excellent. A quick check on eBay shows several at reasonable prices. And some at not so reasonable prices :)

Great advice! Also, I have picked up several things like this at local library sales for pennies on the dollar.

I got mine back in the nineties and they were long out of print then. I'd forgotten about them until just now.

hi David, what search terms did you use on ebay to find these? I was not able to find any old readers.

Wow,
Interesting. I have a number of them from my father stored away in a closet.
I'll have to post them on Ebay. I sure hate to throw them away!

Sehr Gut! (About all I remember of my German from many years ago.)
Just keep at it one day at a time. I am just about to complete all the 2nd levels on my Spanish tree. Been at it about a year.
Guten nacht.

Don't get discouraged. It isn't all about streaks and numbers its about how much you are taking away from the language learning experience. Thats what counts! Happy learning!

Good luck! I was on Duo for a couple months in the summer, took a break, and now I'm back! I've been learning again for 3 and a half weeks now, and I was surprised to find how much I remembered! Always stay positive!

you got to a level 19 in only a few months? It's taken me a year to get to level 19.

Never give up! Although German can be hard but once you get use to it, you cant go back. :) Even wth learning latin in school now, my tongue sits uncomfortably in my mouth because of german, but its also satisfying to know the progress. study daily, speak early on and try your hardest.
