Lingots vs Gems and Practice vs Health

I was comparing my iOS app wit my boyfriends iOS app. They are both completely different. He has gems that he earns from chests after completing his daily lesson. I have lingots. He also has an area called Health where my Practice area is I don’t have an upgrade available. Why are our apps so different?

You are one of these rare people I have ever seen posting on the forum who want to have an "health upgrade".

Most users complaining on the discussion forum do not think that gems (which you have to or can buy) or health are really an upgrade to their IOS mobile app.

Be happy that you can learn without it or the requirement to switch to the www.duolingo.com web portal.

If you access Duolingo on an iPhone using Google Chrome instead of using the app, then you don’t have to deal health, however speaking tasks don’t work and the XP doesn’t go towards leagues. It does however count towards your streak
