Spanish learners, I have created a Practice Spanish Neat Chat.
Hello all of you Spanish learners! For language learning benefit purposes, I created a site in which you can practice Spanish with each other. Here are the rules:
No overly off-topic things.
Please identify your Duolingo username.
Enhance your Spanish =).
Also, here is a little helper to tell you how Neat Chat works:
You can always change your nickname on the bar above the chat box.
The face next to the Change Nickname button is a selection of Emojis that you can put into the chat.
The key is the administrators settings. There is a password to get in, so this is not accessible for users.
The speaker is an option to mute, as the pop-ing sounds can get very annoying.
There is an option to change your status from Available (green) to Away (red), showing that you probably will not answer if talked to.
Hovering over someone's name on the right, you can block users, and you can have private chats with them. (these can be viewed by administrators, so abusing someone privately will still be monitored)
This is a family-friendly practice site, and all who do not uphold these guidelines will be first warned, then temporarily banned, and lastly permanently IP banned. If you would like to get started, the link is below!
Message to the Duolingo staff: If this is inappropriate according to the guidelines in any way, please let me know and I will take it down. Thanks!
Edit: I have reposted this in the main section because that is where people generally read. If this is considered spam, please let me know and I will not do this again. Thanks :).
Yay I'm excited.... It looks cool, just hope more people will be willing to join :)
The IP address is revealed which gives an approximate location. Is that intentional?
Edit: You seemed to be logged in, so I could get information about your region, city and ISP.
That Is the only problem with it. It has that so Neat Chat can IP ban people so they can't get on again on another account and start trolling again.
I see. I'm not really sure why the IP address has to shown in order to ban people. With dynamically assigned IP addresses this doesn't solve the problem of trolling by banning. Plus, you can unintentionally ban people who happen to get the troll's IP address. This also affects people sitting behind a proxy or a gateway (e.g. in a company, school, etc.).
True. The main thing I'm worried about is dosing, if you know what that is. If I can find an alternative, I will use it. I found one called xat, but I didn't know how to create a chat page (I emailed them and everything). Neat chat also doesn't have a lot of the features that others could have, like banning offline users and kicking. Thanks for your input, just knowing that other people are aware of this goes to show that trolls may notice that, and dos the ip.
To anyone reading this, it is what it is said to be, a web based chat applet. I logged in as guest but didnt stay because I am at work right now, but this looks like it could be fun for chatting it up. It reminded me of the good old days on IRC, lol
Great idea! It's a great alternative until Duolingo sets up its own chat (I don't know if it ever will, but I hope so!).
this was such a great idea however every time I go to the site no one is there :( lol have you noticed people going on a certain time of day/night? I'd really love to practice
Hola a todos! Me llamo yonca. Si quieres hacer la practica, me agregues en duolingo!
