    Shouldn't "You are eating a fruit" be correct also ?

    That would be "Gerpe ipradāt." In this case, there are multiple fruits.

    "Gerpī" is referring to ¨fruits¨ isn't it? Why not "You eat the fruits."

    Maybe it would help if it at least said "You eat ALL the fruit." as in "ALL the fruit there is" so that it is clearer that the plural is meant. I have the same fruit/fruits issue every time ;).

    "all the fruit" would be a different sentence, though, since High Valyrian has a word for "every".
