beber and tomar can be used interchangeably with regards to drinking something. I know DL teaches Beber, but you can answer with tomar and still be right. In fact, from what I have read, tomar is actually more common for general statements about drinking something, but beber is used when talking about drinking something with alcohol in it (ie cerveza, vino, etc).
