What a pathetic sentence. No one who actually speaks English would ever say anything like that. Is the judge also suspected of becoming a judge by the lawyer? I wonder?

I may be learning Indonesian but will my native English remain unscathed after such sentences?

Weird sentences are good because they test your comprehension. It is a way to tell if you really understand it in detail.

It's a joke in Bahasa. Actually, rather funny. Let me explain: an ACTUAL lawyer is insulted by a judge who only suspects him of having become a lawyer. So funny!

May be a better word to use is "expected" -> "He is expected to become a lawyer by a judge", it is still an awkward sentence, so it is better to use an active voice -> "A judge expects him to become a lawyer (soon)".

But the lesson is on passive voice...

Mengapa ini bukan "oleh seorang hakim"?

Wouldn't 'ahli hakim' be better than 'seorang hakim' though?
