Thank you for the book recommendation! It looks wonderful, I have to read it. "La vie devant soi" , a movie which the wiki article also mentions, with the unforgettable character Madame Rosa, is one of my all time favorite movies. Thank you so much!!

You're welcome. I think you'll like the book too. It's a short, quick read. I found the book online with the search I mentioned above. Since I've been learning French, I received a great sense of accomplishment from being able to read and understand it in its original language. I hope you experience that feeling too.
