J'ai fini mon arbre de Français!
Finally! After +6 months I managed to finish my french tree. I've taken my time, and work hard in every lesson... About a third of the skills I took to the fifth level (gold), another third are still at level 3, and the bottom part of the three is still at level 1; so my next goal is to bring it all to gold!. I also started the reverse tree (English from French) and I passed all of the available tests without much difficulty, so I'm very proud of myself, considering I didn't know ANY french when I first started here. I will also finish this second tree all the way up to gold and then a third one, Spanish (my mother tongue) from French.
This whole experience has been a blast! I'm so incredibly thankful to duolingo for helping me (for free!) achieve this dream of mine of learning a third language. The app is really useful and intuitive, and every skill introduces new vocabulary in a smooth way. I've been using other resources to complement my journey... the help of a French teacher who is a friend of mine and a French book she gave me along with an audio CD, so I'm slowly learning the grammar, the pronunciation, and the vocabulary. I also enjoy reading the news in French every day and watching videos (mainly interviews) in French. I also downloaded "le petit prince" in French as an audiobook. The idea is to get as immersed as possible, given the fact that I don't live in a french speaking country. I'm dedicating probably a couple hours a day, without much structure, to learn French.
Back to Duo, I have nothing but compliments for you people! I will someday donate money no doubt, just not now, as I live in a poor country (VENEZUELA) and I currently do not have the economic resources to do so. For now, I can only give a thousand thanks for developing such a great app and giving it to the world for free. I will continue to learn every day using this website/app and exploring all of its features!!! The stories are awesome, I tried them when I was just starting and they were too challenging for me, I think it's time to work on them all!
Anyway, such a long post, sorry... I got carried away... THANK YOU DUOLINGO!!!!!
Congratulations on your French progress, your excellent English, and I'm guessing your excellent Spanish as well.
I think these are the tree combinations that you have in mind:
- English - French
- French - English
- Spanish - French
- French - Spanish
I'm working on these too with the goal of making them all golden.
Amazing! Congrats! I'm just starting duolingo again after breaking from French for almost a year. I'm right at the beginning. Can't wait to see where I will be in 6 months also!
Well done, Fran! I am also learning French and studying from those same two courses. I agree with you about Duolingo, and am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to learn French, and other languages here. Félicitations!
Félicitations ! That's an excellent accomplishment and speaks to your high motivation and hard work.
To you and your countrymen: COURAGE!
Well done. All the best and I hope you and your countrymen get your liberty back.
Thanks for this! It's also my hope, as my people have been suffering for years.
How do you do the backwards French thing pretending to learn English? I am native English but I do French and Spanish A Level at the mo so any extra language practice would be great!
Click on the little flag next to your picture above, and select "add new course" then you look for "anglais depuis le français" et voilà
Congrats! That's awesome. Your post gave me a lot of motivation. Thank you for sharing your success story :) Here's five Lingots for you <3
Congratulations!!! I agree with your thought that Duolingo is free and a tool to learn languages
