english: "her" Do i say "sie" or "ihr"

I live and study in Germany but this thing has been bugging me for a while now. I hear people say both "ihr" AND "sie" Does it have somthing to do with akkusative and dative?

thanks

In German there are different pronouns for each case, such as the one you pointed out above. Here's a link to a pronoun chart: https://www.lsa.umich.edu/german/hmr/Grammatik/Basic_Chart.html
