New Language Suggestion
I think Duolingo should have Sanskrit because it's kind of a dying language and it has a deep and rich history to it. If you could consider it that would be cool!
Punjabi would be amazing for us Canadians. It's really widely spoken here - there are even ice hockey games broadcast in Punjabi!
Another side question: Has Duolingo considered these languages before? Latin and Sanskrit would be pretty cool.
A Latin course is in the making. However, if you use the resources that are already available online, you'll have learned Latin by the time it is released here. And then you can use Duo for revision, adding vocab, etc.
If you considering to add Sanskrit language, then you should also add Lithuanian language as this langues is the oldest alive language. Lithuanian language has relations with Sanskrit language and having in mind the significant geographic distance between India and Lithuania this similarity is a mystery. http://vilnews.com/2011-04-incredible-indian-lithuanian-relations-2 Lithuanian language is mother tongue language for around only 3 million people.
According to Google, I found that only 49,736 people know Sanskrit, which is weird because it is the oldest language in the world. If it dies out...
I think Tamil precedes over Sanskrit in being the oldest language in the world.
how hard is tamil grammar compared to let's say english or hindi? i'm assuming that you know the language of course. and about the claim, tamil is definitely one of the oldest living languages, there are older ones that are extinct, but its really hard to say for sure, and you have to be a linguist to understand why the answer is so complicated. but its certainly up there with arabic, greek and hebrew, so kudos.
