Creating an immersive environment

How would one go about making sure they're exposed to as much Japanese daily as they can get? I understand engrossing oneself in media and music, but are there any other methods you've explored or recommend?

Hello,

You can set your devices in Japanese if they have the option, buy some books in Japanese, force yourself to think in Japanese, listen to the radio, podcasts, write in Japanese as much as you can, place post-it everywhere even in your wallet so you can review some vocabulary even on the go.

This is solid advice. Did this with cell phone, LinkedIn, email, and it's been very useful.

force yourself to think in Japanese

How does that work? I can't force myself to think in another language.

He means 'tell that little voice in your head to speak in japanese.' (just jokin!)

When you wrote this post did you think what words you are going to use?

Now do the same thing but instead using English use Japanese.

Do you have to put in your email address? How does it work? Is there another way to access it?

I haven’t checked the site really except once. I remember reading something about "ajatt" method, I first learned about the site from the youtuber Matt vs Japan https://youtube.com/user/MATTvsJapan/videos as he seems to have a lot of videos about this method, or how to set up an immersive environment. Maybe some of the videos can offer some good ideas? Maybe have a look at it? And no, you can just read the blog posts if you want. I guess they just want to advertise.

I have an idea! if you cook, take all the labels off the spices, and write them in japanese! also maybe try only playing video games, watching movies, and reading only in japanese, although that might be overkill!
