Border should also means: Margem, beira, limite, borda. Why is that wrong?

Well, all the translations are right. But the sentence (é uma nova fronteira) is kind of a well known sentence.

Fronteira here is abstract, it can be pushed forward. In English, I would probably say "A new horizon" (um novo horizonte), like when the technologies are improved and grants men the possibility of doing entirely new stuff. New possibilities.
