DUOLINGO - WHY does the system allow people to friend me w/o my permission?

In the last few weeks - people I don't know (and don't care to) show up as adding me as a 'friend'. I have no interest - and would like to have the option to refuse (as on Face Book). There are no instructions easily found on blocking unwanted friends. Please fix!!

If you want to remove someone from your friend list, you can block them. To do this, click on the person's name. There will be a profile page. On the top right corner of the page, there will be a setting symbol. Hover your mouse over it, or tap it and click block.

thanks for the info however I have already removed the 'friends' ....that isn't my issue (except that there are no clear instructions). My issue is - I shouldn't have to - instead my permission should be asked!

Have you read and understood Duo’s T&Cs. I think you have already given them your permission.

Nothing you can do about much when the friend system is implemented not in the "right" way (bi-directional).

Anyone can friend you. That has no affect on you. You have no obligation to friend them back, which only lets you follow their XP.

Anyone can look at your information on Duome. Here is mine.
