French crown level just dropped, drastically.
I used to have about 100, but that was a while ago, so I ignored it when I logged in with 86 crowns today. After reaching level 5 on a skill, all of my other level 5's dropped to level 1, and a lot of skills I've already completed are gone. My crown level has plummeted to 46. What's wrong?
EDIT: All of the skills that I was over level 1 in (lvl 2–lvl 5) have dropped to level 1.
Hi, my name is Joseph and I'm a software engineer at Duolingo. We are in the process of transitioning how we store a user's progress. During this transition, your account was affected by a bug.
We have restored your original progress, but please feel free to reach out again if you have any problems.
Did you see a different tree as well by any chance? French has multiple trees so if you got switched to a new tree, it may be weird.
I see 89 crowns at https://duome.eu/ND523/progress for you. Is it possible that you somehow have two accounts - one with the 89 crowns and one with 46? Or something along these lines.
How many do you see in Duo now?
That's a cool website, thanks for introducing it to me. What do you mean by multiple trees? I only have the one and my textbook's. I'm back up to 89. Thanks for answering!
There is more than one version of the French course (which is also called a tree) - they are doing A/B tests. So if you look at Duome, see how it says "Tree2"? This is one of the versions of the course. You cannot pick and chose which one you land into - and you can be moved to another when they decide to abandon one or test a new one.
See https://forum.duolingo.com/comment/29069435/French-Trees-Explained for a very good explanation - there are more people on 12 now than back then but the idea is the same.
