There is a lot of progress for English courses for the South Asian languages, which is very good news as Duo wants to expand into the South Asian market and teach more South Asian languages besides Hindi. I hope that when those English courses finally come out this year they would start making the Tamil, Bengali, Telugu, and Punjabi courses for English speakers.

Who wants to bet that they will have another course teaching Swedish within the next couple of months? They seem to be really focused on teaching people Swedish. I bet two virtual cookies and 300 lingots that they will have a course teaching Swedish to either German, French or Polish speakers. Possibly Persian if they want to make a Persian version of the website.

They seem to be really focused on teaching people Swedish.

They do talk about how the most popular language to learn on Duolingo in Sweden is Swedish...

I like the sound of Swedish from Polish:)

I have been waiting for Swedish from Russian for ages, so happy to see it finally move:)

One tree in a language is never enough!

That reminds me, which languages (including the ones in Phase 1 of the incubator) have the most courses here teaching them? The incubator says:

27 teaching English

9 teaching French

9 teaching German

8 teaching Spanish

5 teaching Italian

5 teaching Swedish

All the other languages have 3 or fewer courses teaching them...

Okay, I really don't understand why the picture on WIS shows minimal progress for Latin but the incubator says that the thing is more like half-way from getting to Beta. Why?

https://incubator.duolingo.com/courses/la/en/status

Edit: I don't completely understand how the Incubator works in comparison to WIS, so please don't hate for asking this.

Also Edit: Nonetheless, progress is progress. I'm not complaining just wondering which chart is the right chart.

Yet Another Edit: A big increase on contributors! Hooray!

I've read somewhere else on this forum that the incubator progress bar represents the percentage of current words finished. So if they only have 30 words in the course so far and they add translations for 15 of them, the progress bar would be half full.

If that's true than the WIS will be more accurate.

I think they are going to add more words into the course while it's still under development, which means the incubator percentage would drop because of new words added.

I noticed that Latin actually lost progress with the bar. Latin didn't actually lose progress, or course, but the bar and the "pie chart" used to be filled up more.

Also, the estimated release date for Latin is now September 15, 2019!!!

According to the WIS, Latin seems to be making progress very quickly. I hope it gets released soon...
