There is an "a" before the word dishwasher in the sentence so isn't the answer supposed to be "restoran ini mencari seorang pencuci piring" or "restoran ini mencari sebuah mesin pencuci priring?

If this refers to a person and not a machine, why isn't the sentence accepted when I type "seorang pencuci piring"?

Yes, especially since some examples here on Duo do not accept some translations without "seorang!"

How do we know if this is referring to a machine or a person.

I think you can specify, like "mesin pencuci piring" or from context like in english

Shouldn't "rumah makan..." be accepted? Reported.

Dont expect Duo to take any notice of your helpful suggestions and you are correct, it should be seseorang pencuci piring
