I've completed all the French crowns!

After about 500 days, I've finally totally finished my tree. Et ça tombe bien, parce que j'ai un examen B1 jeudi prochain. J'ai très peur !

This tree has been so useful to my learning. Now that I've finished this, is there a way to upgrade myself to the new one?

You can learn English from French, or go to a book that teaches grammar. Duo stories is useful as well. Tinycards, Duo flashcards, is useful for vocabulary. Or you could learn another language, eg. Italian, then learn french from Italian and Italian from french. Also how many crowns are you on?

I'm on 392 crowns! I do a lot of other French study outside Duolingo, but would love to switch to the new tree. I think you're right that finishing Duolingo Stories could be a good next thing to do on this site.

Félicitations!

I've done the FR->EN tree - I liked it & would recommend it. I'm sure you'll breeze through it if you've done the EN->FR one already.

I'm still slogging my way through the new EN->FR tree (tree12) & wish I was doing the old one! I would avoid it at least until it's had some time to bed in & had some additional translations added to the answers so it's not so infuriatingly pedantic!

Congratulations! You could create a new account to get the new tree. Or start the reverse tree, French to English and wait for the new tree...my understanding is that everyone is due to be switched to the new tree sometime this year.

You can try the English to French tree, which is a bit different and can improve what you've already learned on your current tree. Do all the stories if you haven't yet.

Then try these:

elearningfrench.com

lawlessfrench.com

bonjourdefrance.co.uk

I'll be using them in this order because they have grammar lessons based on CEFR level.

I've also finished the FR-EN tree and am now doing the EN-FR. I can't recommend this highly enough. It's a completely different experience, with completely different sentences and emphasis. Congratulations!

Many libraries have free access to Rosetta stone online, once I've completed all the French in Duolingo (or sooner) I will move on to doing some work with Rosetta Stone every day. I have also subscribed to radio-canada.ca 's Infolettre.

How many XP did you do each day to finish your tree in 500 days?

Like others I will echo working on the reverse tree--and I will also state further that "Laddering" is a thing.

For example:

Standard Duolingo is L1 -> L2

Reverse Tree is L2 -> L1

Laddering is L2 -> L3 (and beyond)

That being said, Gilding your tree is still technically possible, however none of the information relevant is visible on the base DuoLingo application. There are some Chrome/Firefox stuff you can run to make it visible... but those are a bother and I'd suggest https://duome.eu/ ... and you can see a lot more information than DuoLingo presents with https://duome.eu/brianlearnsfrenc

Why doesn't DuoLingo show this stuff? Well, you'll notice Duome.eu is in English and some of that stuff does not easily translate into other languages... and a lot of it would make the DuoLingo interface really really busy to look at. Like with a bunch of numbers and stuff--and it would scare most not crazy people away.

Tres bien! Bon courage dans ton examen!

I would guess that next step is to say a nice goodbye to duolingo and move on, to a more advanced platform

Merci ! At this point I like using this site to track how many days I've been studying French, so it sounds silly but I'm reluctant to give up my streak.

Actually, I've just moved to B1 lately. What I do, in addition to duolingo, is listening to this 'easy french' radio: https://savoirs.rfi.fr/fr/apprendre-enseigner/langue-francaise/journal-en-francais-facile I'm trying to speak French as much as possible, so when a French person speaks English I pretend to not understand. Once a week I am going to a lecture in French (frankly, I don't understand much, but it keeps improving) and I joined a French community who's having dinner once a week. It's a great way to meet new people and practice :)

wow, congrats. I originally complete my French tree (pre-Crowns and the 2.0 tree) in about 3 months, I figure it might take me 4-6 years to get it to level 5.

As far as I know, there are no plans to let people choose to move from one tree to another. If you deleted the tree and restarted it, you might get a newer tree but you might not, you might have to create a new account.

Congratulations! Did you work through one subject at a time, aka Animals through Level 5 or move down the tree. I have been moving down the tree, on Level 3, but not sure it's the way to go. Thanks.

Thanks! I had already finished the tree when crowns were released. It used to be that you completed a skill and then could keep it gold by revising it. After crowns were released, everything was on 1 or 2 crowns, so I went through and made everything 5 crowns skill by skill.

is there a new learning tree?

Felicitations!

I'm working on crowning my French tree, version 2 and wondering how to get the updated French tree, version 3.

March 16, 2019

How do you know what Version you're on? All I know from Duome is that I'm on "Tree8". I'm almost done, so it would be nice to know what version it is. I know that a lot of new sentences were added a couple months ago.

Go to reserver tree! Will be fun at first and eventually start kicking your butt, but nevertheless, fun, since you're skill level, is high enough.

Also, stories, for sure! Bonne chance.
