Quick question

If Koran means newspaper, Alkitab means Bible, then what is the Quran? Is it just Quran, Al-Qu’ran or something else? Also what would the Tanakh be called?

The official spelling is Alquran, although people writing Al-Quran or Al-Qur'an (especially for Islamic contexts) is not uncommon (and not necessarily wrong). Tanakh is just Tanakh.

EDIT: Oh, and Quran is also possible.

Islam holy book: Al Quran

newspaper: koran (no capitalization except in the beginning of a sentence), surat kabar

Tanakh would probably still be called Tanakh.

Halo teman! Just to avoid any confusion. Please, try first reading the etymology from Wiktionary (this is just one methodology I use to help myself with the language learning):

Etymology (koran)

From Dutch krant, from French courant (“current”).

And I think, after knowing more about Indonesian history, it is easy to see that the word for newspaper is not involving with any religion, but with the colonial period in Indonesia.

I hope it helps. ;)
