Suggestion: Lack of things displayed on our 'Achievements' board.

Hi, I believe that 'Achievements' board is a great idea which is not used the way it should. I know that there are very many thing in my suggestion but I just thought over everything I could so it is up to the Duolingo team if to add any of these.

  1. Spanish level. The bar until the next level could be displayed
  2. Native language. The native language of a person could be shown 3.Latest learned skill. As far as we can't see the trees of other people anymore I believe a person's latest learned skill should be displayed
  3. Learning since is a really great thing we have in the settings. It could be displayed for informational purposes only
  4. Latest certificate result. That is the one I need the most! I have always wanted to be able to see other people's test results!
  5. All trophies that a person has earned.

It could look like this.

Who likes the suggestion please upvote this discussion so that people from Duolingo would notice it and maybe something of these might be added to the website :)

Priorities. Duo is getting bombarded by all sorts of requests -- many from you ;) -- and resources need to allocated. There is a thread going now where people are ranting about the lack of speed in implementing Swedish. Duo staff are being called lazy. Many folks are getting increasingly impatient about the slow return of the vocabulary section. People complain because it takes weeks to have corrections acknowledged. People want more moderation of comments/votes in immersion and the discussion forums. Someone says he 'needs' Duo to tell him how many hours he sounds on Duo, another wants Duo to tell him his start date. Etc. Given that Duo has been nicked a bit on some things -- see the response to having skill refreshment displaced by dueling -- Duo want to do a bit more evaluating before they implement changes. Some folks think Duo is becoming a game based on Languages rather than a language learning site utilizing gaming elements. Many simply do not care about the certificate scores of other learners (not gamers), but we'd like to see the vocab tab return. ;)

maybe they should have a suggestion section where users can put their suggestions

I expect to be downvoted into oblivion for saying this, but the volume of suggestions at times reach a spam-like level. I'd be delighted if they could be segregated from the main discussion forum, but as rspreng says, the Duo staff's to do list is too full of actually meaningful items to bother asking for such frivolous changes.

Agreed. I would say the same for the hundreds of "I finished my tree!" discussions.

That's another pet peeve of mine. I don't mind them when people include a critique of the course or a summary of their experiences. In fact I actually like seeing those. More often than not, though, those posts are just self-congratulatory wastes of screen space. I'd say the same for the "I've got a X days streak!" posts.

I completely agree. I actually like to read the ones with critiques, resources and strategies used, etc, but if they are just bragging, they aren't really useful to anyone.

Don't the "I finished my tree!" discussions help us encourage each other? I look for them everyday. It really inspires me when I see others succeed.

For some people, yes, for others, no. I also agree with what pinkodoug said; a critique of the course or a summary of the person's experience is fine with me.

"but we'd like to see the vocab tab return. ;)"

The one thing users far and wide agree on.

Totally agree! Too little happens when you finish a tree. I want to see my owls on my user page every day. =)

Also activity should just show YOUR activity, not everyone you follow's activity. It makes it really hard to find things...
